How Much Exercise Does Your Dog Really Need?

Regular exercise is essential for keeping dogs healthy, happy and mentally stimulated. However, the amount of exercise your dog needs depends on their breed, age and energy levels.

High energy breeds

Breeds such as Border Collies, Labradors and working dogs require plenty of daily activity. These dogs often benefit from longer walks, playtime and mental stimulation.

Medium energy dogs

Many family dogs need around 30–60 minutes of daily exercise. This may include a walk, backyard playtime or interactive games.

Older dogs

Senior dogs still need exercise but at a gentler pace. Shorter walks help maintain mobility, weight and overall wellbeing.

Regular exercise also helps reduce unwanted behaviours such as barking, chewing and restlessness.
